Many years ago I used Original Metabolife and lost 17 pounds. Have any of you used diet pills? Any you like? I am mostly looking for the ones that kill your appetite and give you energy.

TIA

No, but I would be interested too! I never gain weight, but I just can't seem to loose the weight from having my last 4 kids so close together.

I took Metabolife once...and never will again. A coworker brought them in so I said sure I'll try it. It was like speed for us. We were running around doing everyone's work, talking nonstop, and my pulse got up to 130's when the manager made me sit down. She was pleased at our productivity, but not at our heart rates. Another coworker remembers this incident and it happened a long time ago.

I really thought someone would have some suggestions.

Regarding the Metabolife incident with the heart rate I read about that and know that is why it is off the market, however I never had that problem. I did cut back on my caffeine intake and started with like one pill a day then slowly up to the recommended amount, can't remember what that was but about three or four a day probably.

Unfortunately, they are all dangerous. It would be better to up your fresh fruits and veggies and work on portion size without using pills or processed foods, along with upping activity. It sounds so easy, but we all know how hard it is to get started. However, once there, the lifestyle change makes it easier.

No diet pill has been found to be safe AND effective, including Rx ones. Even surgeries have that issue - look at those who have had the surgeries and gained the weight back. The people I know that used diet pills, plus the ones I've read about state they gain it back, plus even more pounds.

I wouldn't touch a diet pill with a ten foot poll! I think they are all bad for you and you are much better off sticking to a healthy diet and lots of exercise. If you need to control your appetite drink lots of water and eat several small meals throughout the day.

I don't think there is any pill that is the magic weight loss pill. The only one I would take would be Alli. It is safe but you can have messy side effects if you do not follow a low fat diet. Even with this pill you only loose 1/4 more weight that you would with dieting alone and it is a pricey drug.

You would probably make better progress with life style changes like exercise, portion control, drinking an adequate supply of water, and making healthy food choices.

I am very aware, as I am sure we all are, that the suggestions to use diet and excersize. Are the best safest option.

But the discussion isn't diet or activity suggestions. The subjest is, has anyone taken a pill that did work for them or did not and what were the side effects.

I now wonder if someone did have a pill that they used and liked would they be afraid to post it? In fear that they would look bad.

I know there are women that have tried the pills that is why they sell so many.

A shame, I cannot get honest feedback.

My doctor always says "if skinny came in a pill, nobody would be fat."

While I'm sure that all of us will love a diet pill that works, with no side effects, there really isn't one out there. Until it is discovered, we'll just have to keep working our butts off the old fashioned way.
