We are in the "market" to find a really really good vacuum cleaner that will pick up (as my hubby says), barrettes and legos (hehe) and that is not stupid expensive (preferably $ 150 and under). Ladies what do you have and what do you recommend? Thanks

I love my Bissells. They are inexpensive and work well. I had my last one for 5 years and only paid about $60 for it. It died, so I bought another!

We got an Eureka Boss "SmartVac" upright...gosh, about 6 months ago and I LOVE it. It's working great for me. It was less than $150.

I was told that the Bissell Healthy Home vac is the next best thing to a Dyson. I am not sure on the price though. I have had numerous people tell me that when DH and I were looking into buying a new vac. We ended up buying a small Dirt Devil that Sam's had on clearance for $40 and it is the best vac we have ever had! We live in a small apartment, I wouldn't rec. our vac for anything more than 1300 sq ft.

I have the Boss upright too. I loved it at first, but it just died on me after a year. I am desperately seeking a vacuum that lasts!!!!!
