I'mactually wondering if anyone keeps a chest freezer inside their house. Not like, in a basement, but on a main floor, one with carpet even. We have been thinking about getting one, but live in Houston so our garage is very easily 120 degrees 8 months out of the year, and I understand that's not the best condition for a freezer. The only other place we could put it in, is a carpeted room. Not sure if thats "allowed" so I was wondering if anyone does that.

I know people who keep them in utility rooms on the main floor. I even know someone who keeps one in her bedroom (cleverly disguised with a quilt - which also helps save energy).

One of ours is in the laundry room off the kitchen - which is carpeted. Never had any issues with it. My friend keeps hers in the kitchen on her Pergo floor. No issues. Both are 7 cuft ones. Our big ones are out in the garage, because they take way too much space (large fridge size upright and a 30cuft chest).

Well, right now I'm sure where my freezer is, as DH has decided tonight is the night to rip off that whole room. Yeah. As on gone. I hope he put it in the garage....

I'm a touch afraid to see the damage out there....
