We are turning more and more to frozen family sized meals on the nights we are busy and don't feel like cooking. I find that when I have some in my freezer, I am less tempted to get take-out. When I combine them with coupons, they aren't much more expensive than cooking from scratch, either. We really like the Green Giant steamed veggies, as well as Stouffer's lasagna. I've also found several things at Sam's Club in the past - need to make another trip there to stock up.
Where do you get them? Do you have any favorites?

I never even considered buying them until one thanksgiving when I got the coupon for a free turkey, ham or lasagna. I got the lasagna because DH hates turkey and ham. It was the veggie one and it was so good!

I don't buy frozen dinners for various reasons, nutrition and sodium content being some of them but I do freeze many casseroles to heat later. This has been working very well for us. I try to freeze the meals in pans that can just go into the oven.
In my freezer right now, I have the following frozen cooked meals:
spagetti and meatballs, all I have to do is heat up and boil the noodles
lasagana
chilli mac ( served chilli one night for dinner and then I poured it over rigatoni noodles, topped with shredded cheddar and crushed doritos)
beef stew, I can make grilled cheese to go with it or serve it with the frozen homemade bread
apple crisp, can be a dessert or turned into baked apple oatmeal by pouring milk over it after heating
lasagna soup, I can quickly make garlic cheese bread for dunking to go with it
chicken pot pie
porkchop and stuffing casserole
porcupine meatballs and gravy, will make mashed potatoes to go with this
beef stroganoff casserole topped with crutons and mozzerella cheese
pumpkin bread
porketta
Thats about it for now but I am thinking of other things I can make and freeze. My daughter skates monday, wendsday, thursday after school and tuesday before school, my youngest daughter skates thursdays, my son has hockey and then downhill skiing during the week and weekends so I don't have a lot of time to make meals during the week. This has saved us so much money.

Stouffer's lasagna is really the only family size frozen dinners I ever get. We all really like it and I can get two meals out of it. I like some of the other Stouffers meals myself, but the rest of the family doesnt. I find that I like to do OMAC and have fast meals that way. I am looking to do some more OAMC session here soon, so that after I have the baby (and for while I am in the hospital), meals will be easy for either me or dh to fix up. Last time I did multiple batches of chili, spag/goulash sauce, chicken taco meat, etc. I am going to be looking in the freezer section for some new ideas.

We like the Stouffer's lasagna. I also have gotten the Stouffer's Cheese Ravoili which is good, but there's not that much in it so I feel like a can of Ravoili is MUCH cheaper and has more in it (although not NEARLY as good). We also LOVE the Stouffer's Chicken Parmesean! It's a bit more expensive I believe, but the chicken is so tender. My 1 year old can eat this fine where as when we make our own chicken I worry a bit more.
We haven't tried any other brands, and I try not to eat these too much. Before soccer practice days we will eat Mac N Cheese sometimes or DiGiorno Stuffed Crust pizzas! (we LOVE these)!

I really don't buy that many, but I agree with everyone that the Stouffer's Lasagne is really good. Alot of times it is actually cheaper than buying all the stuff to make one yourself. And I like the Banquet Crockpot Chicken & Dumplings meal. Bertolli makes some really good pasta dinners, but they are only for 2 people I think. You would have to buy 2 bags for 4 people, but if you can find them BOGO they are really good.

I don't really buy whole meals that are frozen, but I do assemble meals out of frozen things and a few fresh ingredients. I have had big success with some of the frozen stuff from Trader Joe's. My family loves their turkey meatballs, so I can make a quick meal in no time by just boiling some whole wheat spaghetti and heating up a jar of premade sauce from Trader Joe's. They also love those "tiny tacos" with chicken that you just bake in the oven. I make a big salad with shredded cheese and chopped tomatoes and make some dressing out of salsa and lowfat sour cream and toss it all together with the tiny tacos on the side and everyone is happy. Now that I am thinking about it, there hasn't been a single frozen thing from Trader Joe's that my family hasn't eaten right up. They love the sesame ginger noodles from the refrigerated section too.

We also use the Trader Joe's frozen foods a lot. It's easy and relatively inexpensive to throw together a quick dinner and the food is not too salty (one of my big complaints about most frozen family meals)

okay well i actually buy them alote and mix it up with sides. Frozen cheese pizzas and add our own toppings w/ frozen garlic bread and hot wings frozen thats pizza night maybe once a month. Then I really like the Stouffer's lasagna veggie is yummy with garlic bread!! Um Oh yes I also buy the Chinese Kits like stirfry veggies and teriyaki chicken kabobs and egg rolls for Chinese night. Everything but the Stouffers I get at Aldi's so on the nights I really dont feel like doing much I get my cheat meals, its mostly a Monday or Friday meal instead of going thru the drive thru its saved us alot. The Banquet Slow Cooker Meals are okay too but its not ever enough for left overs for my Fiances lunch
