My daughter is really into the whole American Girls thing. Her birthday is coming up, and I just can't bring my frugal self to pay $36 for an AG outfit or $50 for an AG chair (I'll leave that up to the grandmothers). Does anyone know if the Target version (Our Generation?) fits the AG line? Are they the same size? Any other suggestions?

No, how could I forget? One grandma is going to give her money to spend there.

Target items fit perfect. Either Joann's or Michaels's also has clothes, or at least they did last winter. I forget which it is but with the coupon, they are pretty cheap.

I'm pleased with the Our Generation clothes at Target. They do fit American Girl.

We buy the Target ones too. I also tried to find her a shirt that looked similar or complimented the New Generation outfit I got. Saved a ton of money. I've gone the AG route too, but glad I wised up!

Try putting a wanted ad on Craigslist, I've found some great deals. AC Moore and Michaels sells outfits for 18 inch dolls and they were only 4.99-9.99.

Yes Target OG stuff fits great (except for the shoes, but the clothes fit perfect)

We also found a terrific store around here, its a place that allows vendors to sell thier wares in boths, and one lady makes AG doll clothes. She also makes a matching version for the child. We bought a few items over the summer and it was SO worth it!

My mom also found someone that makes doll beds, and she bought each girl a doll bed for thier birthdays. They are adorable post beds and my girls are thrilled with them. They cost HALF of a real AG doll bed.
