Liquid only - we have a septic tank and our septic guy said only liquids in it - ditto for dish washer soap.

I always used liquid, being that it dissolves easier, and sometimes I like to use it to pre-treat. However, I started using powder about a year ago, and I actually like it better now. You DO have to start running the water first, then put in the powder to give it some time to dissolve. Other than that, I have had NO problems using powder at all! The detergent I buy is from Etsy, and it works great. I will also make a paste out of it, and use it to pretreat. Wonderful stuff!

I only use powder. That is what my mom used so I use it.
I never have any problems with it.
Intresting to read so many on here use liquid- may have to try it and see for myself

When I Had a traditional Washing machine , I Preferred Powder- It cleaned Much better than Liqed IMO.

I would put the powder in the machine and Let the water Run about 1/2 Full before I added any clothes -
I Had no problems with Residue - in all water Temps.

I Now Have an HE machine , and Never even knew they made powder
Until last Month when I Saw it at Target.

I Have a Large bottle of Charlies soap liqued still Almost Full - so I Won't need it for a Couple months , but I May try the powder again When I Buy.

I use liquid. I read somewhere that it is easier on your washer. But I am not sure if you can even use powder on a front loading washer. Does anyone know that?

I make my own laundry detergent and although it can be made liquid or powder, I have always prefered liquid as it leaves no residue on the clothes and cleans better!
