I would probably just substitute milk. I'm sure it will be fine. I use a very similar recipe and it calls for milk.

I made this today, and everyone LOVED IT!! Even my very picky 5 yr. old DD!! I was shocked, actually!! So I'm sold!!

Only comment I have is that my topping came out more like cookie dough than "crumbly". Wasn't easy to "crumble", so I probably should have added more flour...but was in a hurry. I think I'd also add marshmellows to it next time. (I bought some JUST for that purpose...) I think I'll re-heat them in the next day or so and add those. Otherwise, we all LOVED IT!! So, thanks for another GREAT RECIPE!!

ETA: I used Evap. milk instead of heavy cream, but next time I'll use the cream. It was good though, so the evap. milk worked just fine!!

Dh took the kids out to dinner tonight so I made myself a little mini version of this (I'm the only one around here that likes sweet potatoes). YUMMO! I did use fresh sweet potato and I baked it in the oven for an hour. The peel comes right off so easily if you cook it like that. You can also bake them in the crock pot and the peel comes right off. I have to admit I did put some marshmallows on mine. I am so full right now I am about to pop! I
