We roast asparagus all the time! It's a favorite in our house. I don't use garlic though...just kosher salt, fresh pepper...don't bother with the ziploc bag, just put the asparagus on the tray, add your spices (or garlic) and oil and then just roll them around a bit, they get coated and you don't waste a baggie!
I don't cook mine very long...just til crisp tender.
Sometimes I grate some fresh parmesean or romano cheese over them after I pull them from the oven.
