I bought either 5 or 6 beets.Small kinda.Or maybe they are suppose to be that small. So my question is how do you make them crispy like chips in the oven?I was thinking about the deep fryer but would that make the grease purple or taste bad?

I would like them crispy like chips.I don't like beets but I am trying to add in another veggie at dinner time and like it.

Any help would be great.Thanks-

Well, since I'm a beet lover, I'd either fix them as buttered or pickled. Since they're fresh, you trim down the stalks, then boil some water and put them in, cook about 30 to 45 minutes. They're done when you can stick a fork in and it goes in easy. Take them out, run cold water over and slip the skins off.

To butter them, just slice them up and toss with melted butter, salt and pepper. If you'd like to know how to pickle them, let me know and I'll get the recipe from my grandma.

I have done what Aidansmommy does and cook them... then take some of the juice from that and add some cornstarch to thicken it.. It makes it really yummy! My kids won't eat them though... so I don't make them very often.
