I agree about the respect thing. I hated Clinton, but I always told my children they had to respect the "OFFICE" of the president. I wouldn't put such a tacky sticker on my car or one blasting dems. Trying to raise my children with better values and respect is one of them.

Agreed, with both of you.

It was sad when the whole world laughed at the Clinton scandal, and the way we tore our president up. Such disrespect of the greatest county in the world's leader, I bet we were the laughing stock of the world
And now we do it again, to publicly disgrace and disrespect our leader now is sad. We dont have to like them, but we should respect their position. IMO seems nothing is sacred anymore.

I dont always agree with my husband, but I support him in front of the children, then voice my opinion in private.... if my children saw disunity between us, they would use that to manipulate us. In bigger thinking, we are a nation that is supposed to be united, why are we so quick to attack our own, in front of the world, I'm sure whoever the next President is, he/ she will be raked over the coals, embarrassed/humiliated in whatever way we as a society can find, and the world will watch...... Thank God our country allows us the freedom to say what we want, I just think while we will always dissagree with our leaders, we need to show the world that we are united not divided

Yes, thank God we get to voice our own opinions because I'm sure the families of the soldiers that have all lost their lives are expressing theirs.

That is one of the great things about message boards like these. My first thought - as a Republican was to laugh, but then reading these last few posts made me realize how much I influence my children's views on respecting others. Thanks for the insight!

I agree with you hotlilmama! He may not do things that I agree with on a regular basis but he still has the hardest job in the world and if people who like to criticize think they could do such a perfect job then maybe they should run for the presidency! Not a freebie I want either.

I agree. I did not like Clinton or the way he treated his power, but I would never have put an anti-Clinton bumpersticker on my car. He was our president at the time.

I try to be more positive than that.

I think it is hysterical. I have seen many of these on cars all over the place. I would have wrapped one up for my DH. He was in the Corps and with everything in him supports not the person but the position.

Within my in law family I stand out. I am way more tolerant to others and have a more liberal democratic view of the world. I sat through years of Clinton jokes and inappropriate jabs for his tasteless decisions. Now I have a whole box of jokes because he just keeps giving all of us material. But like my husband I believe the position warrants my respect and appreciation. So I refrain. (I am also pretty non confrontational)

I do have a private myspace that I do have a Pink song called Dear Mr. President playing on my playlist. My husband is not happy with me but I do feel in my own private place I can voice my opinions and concerns.

We do live in the best place in the world and men and women fight for our freedoms each day. Including peoples, maybe tastleless sense of humor.

Never mind how tacky bumper stickers are anyway.

I don't care for bumper stickers - whether I agree with the sentiment or not!
