Keep in mind that despite our members' best efforts to screen out the bad ones, they still do exist. The mods try to catch them, too, but all of our eagle eyes still end up missing some. Other times they simply are out of them, or the link is old.
For success, I'd suggest you do the Walmart ones. Those are quite reliable. And yes, definitely do your reliable companies, although some of these run out of stock or are not real. I think I get about 1 or 2 a week. I never rely on ANY freebie. After all, it's a freebie. I just like being pleasantly surprised. And I definitely don't go for each one. I don't need more clutter.
The posters of the freebies are usually members like the rest of us, and everyone does their best to make sure they are clean and real. The chocolate ones, many coffee ones and the lingerie ones usually are fake.
The other thing you can do, is post in the thread of one you were looking forward to and see if anyone received theirs. Like the Whirlpool/Opi nail polish one that was floating around. I never received it, and if anyone did, I'm sure it was a small pool of people. I've noticed many freebies make their rounds to freebie sites, so the companies, especially the small ones, get inundated and turn off the tap.
