Hmmm I've never been "invited as a guest" (but have volunteered a time or two for the bigger Christmas parties) to a classroom party. I would have to say that since I've been dealing with a child in school for just over 14 years it's not common practice here. I did attend MANY "classroom" parties when my two were in daycare centres, preschool and then kindergarten but after that no (I think it's the class sizes that don't allow for it once in the regular school system).
