My son starts kindegarten on September 5 and here it is a full day, 7:50 - 2:05. The county I live in just went to all day Kindergarten last school year, they were the only 1/2 day county in Central VA. They said it was easier to transition, but if you went to preK with the county it was a full day program. It was backwards if you ask me. There were so many putting their children in private Kindergartens at the churches because they were full day programs, the the county wised up and made K all day. 1/2 days(here, it was morning or afternoon, so 1 teacher taught twice as many kids) are hard on the parents and childcare providers and the issue of delayed openings for weather and earliy dissmissal days (planned and because of weather) made some go to school more hours than the others. All it takes is a few weeks of rough weather here and going in 2 hours late completely screws morning K, as it was only 3 hours long, they ended up missing the whole day, but afternoon K went as usual. It just wasn't fair, so now it's 7:50 - 2:05, which I don't think is too bad. What are your Kindegarten hours?

8:00AM to 2:20PM are our school hours - that includes a 30 minute lunch and two 20 minute recesses.

My kids get on the bus at 8:05, doors open at 8:45 the get out at 3:20 and get off the bus at 3:45. It's a long day, too long in my opinion.

The reason we decided to homeschool for at least kindergarten was our district does all days. I think it is crazy. My daughter would be bored silly.
