My friend's daughter was thrown to the ground, punched in the stomach, then punched in the face busting open her lip by a boy. they are 14 and other kids were playing keep away from him with his hat. She was walking along and caught it and then he did it. I was outraged by a boy hitting a girl. How dare he put his hands on her?

Wait it gets better: the principal told my friend he would be suspended and kicked off the football team. Well he comes from a rich family and the "punishment" was changed to 1 day in school suspension, and missed 2 football practices. I told her to press charges the day it happened which she did. This is assault and battery plain and simple. His mom came crying to her house to please drop charges if they promise to get him anger management. turns out the only "therapy" he has gotten is from the school guidance counseler. In this era of school violence this should be treated harsher. He should definitely be kicked off the football team and should have been suspended from school. If nothing is done to stop this behavior the little puck will become a wife abuser for sure if he thinks it's ok to hit a 14 year old girl. He laughs about his easy "punishment".

She is not dropping charges so I wonder what will happen to him in the j-v system

I am so glad they are not dropping charges. My nephew went through something similar and the three kids that jumped him really hurt him. He has lasting affects from his beating.

I pray that your friend stands firm and doesn't back down. This boy and his family need to learn this lesson.

Also i want to ad that as a junior in high school a boy in my class also knocked me in the face and pushed me to the ground while banging my head against the ground. It is something that i have never forgotten. Please tell your friend that her daughter should have a councelor to talk to regarding this. It may seem like something she will just spring back from but it is serious.

I'm glad they're strong on this. He shouldn't have been getting picked on (was she really outside of it?), but to get physically violent is uncalled for. Has he even apologized from his heart yet? Probably not. If he uses $$ to be violent now, it will only get worse. I would also rally parents and the PTO on the light sentence. He should at least get community service, maybe doing something for the charity of HER choice.

Jodie's right, the dd will need to talk to somebody about it. I can't believe the principal did NOTHING!!! That is shameful.

It boils my blood to hear of a boy hitting a girl under any circumstances. I too would have pressed charged and what is up with the school I think I would do something there as well.

I think it si great that she didn't take the schools word for it and did press charges and is not dropping them. Kids theese days get off on so many things becasue their parents help them with it. I think it is a way for the parents to try to be friends wtih their kids so that they can be close insted of being parents. GOOD For you friend... keep us posted I really want to know what happens to this punk

You DO NOT physically harm another person, rivh or poor. I also hope your friends DD is talking to someone about it. What a bad situation....

Does Money Matter?

Welcome to middle/high school. That was exactly my point when I said my dd has learned survival skills and we are in the suburbs. Yet, If you say anything politically incorrect than you are suspended. Because that is not PC. But violence the schools do not have a handle on. There are alot of angry kids out there. I see it at the grade school level too.

I blame it on parents who aren't around, because they have to work, to buy the stuff for their kids, because they feel guilty that they work too much. Ironic isn't it?

I feel so bad for that poor girl. She will never be the same after this. It breaks my heart- things like this going on at a SCHOOL is totally unacceptable... and yet, that's how America's schools are. When will the parents stand up and say Enough?
