This is us too. I love summer when I'm not having to nag my kids to get up, do your homework, you need to go to bed, etc.

Besides.....at the end of summer the princess will be leaving for college...so I'm REALLY not wanting summer to be over

ME,me me!!! I'm started to get aggrivated with the amount of times the phone rings or the doorbell rings for the kids. Can't accomplish any tasks without being interupted by the doorbell or phone. My 12yr old dd wants to run all over town with her friends until dark. She doesn't understand that isn't safe these days anymore.
Then it's the constant "can i spend the night?" questions from her friends or her asking " can i spend the night at their house?". She has one "friend" who i feel just uses her for a place to crash for the weekends. She doesn't seem to call for any other reason than to ask to spend a weekend with us. UGH, i'm tired of it all already!! They are getting to that age that spending any quality time with mom or dad is just like, totally lame, ya know.

Then let me help you understand. I get very few breaks from my dd, there's not that much to do around here that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, there are kids around my house all the time screaming and breaking stuff, and all the kids are bored, wandering around the house all the time saying, "What do you want to do? I don't know, what do you want to do?".

We do not have these things here. Yeah, we have pools, but I hate being wet in public. EWWW!

Me too! I don't even bother answering the phone anymore because I know it's not for me. It's such a shock when I actually get a phone call.

I sick of the sleepover crap too! She's had 3 in the last 2 weeks! I told her she's not having any sleepovers for a while.

I love summer vacation!

I get to watch DD explore and get into all sorts of adventures. It is wonderful to see her stretch her wings and learn new things that we don't have time to get into during the school year.

I'm liking this schedule so much, I'm going to look into partially homeschooling DD. She can ride the bus in the morning and do the core subjects with her class then come home at lunch. I'll supplement her core subjects and complete the music, science, social studies / history, PE and art requirements at home and with a homeschooling co-op. We try to fit in half of those subjects after school as it is.

If I hear "I'm bored" or "I'm hungry" one more time I will go crazy. How do 7 year olds eat so much???

We don't have free days in the summer, I need school to start so I can go back to work (at the school) and have a break!!! I love my kids being involved, but I do nothing but run!!! Between tennis lessons, band lessons, swimming lessons, Chineese lessons. summer college, and the library program, we certainly don't have lazy days!!! They are crazy, but I like it better that way than having bored kids or the kids wanting to play video games all day!
