Default When do you start trying to get your kids back on their school schedule?

Although I've tried, my kids have been getting to bed 30 minutes to an hour later than usual. My dd will need to be in school at 7:35 and right now she is getting up at 8am most mornings. I will be driving her to school so we will need to leave the house at 7:20 (almost an hour earlier than preschool!). When do you start getting them back on schedule?

I may be a mean mommy in this area. I never leave the school sleep schedual except for sleepovers and vacations of course. Otherwise its 8pm for 10 and under 9pm for 15-12yr olds. This way I never have to deal with complaints when school comes back around.
They are Ok with it and do not argue with me. (Of course I let them read in bed how ever long they want to in the summer but at least they are in bed.)

Depending on what is going on the next day, during the summer I let ds stay up until 8:30 or so, 'lights out' at 8:45 (he can read with a flashlight until whenever he wants). I get him out of his room by 10:00 am, usually he's up by 9:00-30 or so, reads, lounges, whatever.

School days he's going to need to be in bed by 8:00, lights out 8:15. I don't really start until maybe the week before. Even then, it never really works out. I don't really worry about it, the first two weeks of school is when we really Get on schedule. Doing it early, although I try doesn't really work out for us.

We're really lose with bedtimes and waking up times over the summer...that's what makes summer so fun IMO! LOL!

Thankfully, it's not an issue to get them back on schedule, so it's really not that big of a deal at our house. Our school starts on a Wednesday. So the Sun, Mon and Tue before the first day of school...we try to scale things back a little each night to get close to the school year bedtime.

Getting them on schedule ahead of time never works for us. But after a few days of having to get out of be early and go to school, everything is back to normal!!

this year we did not go off our school schedule except in the fact we let them stay up a little later ds is in summer school so he has to be there by 8:15 anyway and school for us starts in less than 4 weeks so we should be good to go.

My son is always on the school schedule. Both dh & I work. So no matter the season we stick to the same schedule year round, which is good. Bed times stay the same. But we do sleep in a bit on the weekends.
My son has summer school which keeps him in "school mode". His dad drops him off and picks him up from summer school. After ss he goes to an after school daycare, so he has something to do. Then I pick him up around 4:15.

My girls don't know the meaning of sleeping in (the sun is up so we should too is their philosophy) so I don't change their schedule much in the summer. Occasionally they are up until 9:00 if the neighbor kids are out playing, but usually they are showering around 8 and working on bedtime by 8:30.

Thanks for the advice!

We go back to school on a Wednesday, so I guess I will start over the weekend before.
