Okay...I'm letting my 10 year old go off to overnight camp for five days. She has never been away from me for that long. She is going with her church group GA (girls in action) to a camp in NC. A baptist Women's missionary church camp. I am driving her up and I am excited for her, but I am also nervous. I see so much on the news and here so many things. I think that I have taught her how to be safe and careful...but what if I didn't ... what if she forgets all the great things I taught her...What if she isn't getting the last few important things I shoving into her brain at the last minute.

Seriously, I'm freaking out! I have officially been online since 11pm last nigt thinking about it and now it is 6:30 AM...which means I'll be a zombie all day today!

Someone please tell me this is going to be okay and I'm not going crazy for nothing!

You are not crazy. Truth is, things can happen to our children any day and any where, even at home. I am sure your daughter will be fine. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable with the people you are entrusting her care to.

i'm sure everthing will be fine and it will be a great experience for her...

i had the same feelings just sending my son to daycamp at a local ymca camp he wanted to spend the whole week there overnight this was our compromise it had one night sleep over. well all went well.. we talked about what was appropriate and that he should never be alone or go off alone with anyone he needed to be with the group..

she will do fine and have a wonderful time just wait until you pick her up and she tells you about all the fun she had.

Think of it this Way ,

If you diden't let her go and something Happened to Her just Right up the Street. You Would feel guilty cause she wasen't away.
Its Hard to Always Win with our Kids.
Teach them right and hope and Pray for the best is all you can do.None of us knows where Bad things are going to Happen.

My kids have been going to Week long Church camp since age 8.
It is Well staffed and has a lot of younger counselers and Many Staff members.
I Think they are Very safe there.
