Maybe it's because we're getting toward the end of summer and I'm pretty much kidded out, but some of the phone messages my dd's friends leave for her on our answering machine are getting on my nerves. Here's the latest one I just listened to:

"Darn it, she's not there. NO! NO! NO!" <screaming>

Is it so hard to say "This is ______. Please call me."

Some of my dd's friends do fine, but I told my dd that I'm going to have a little chat with some of her friends about these obnoxious, screaming messages.

Would this bother anyone else?

Yes it would bother me! My dd has this little pyscho stalker friend who is 2 years younger and acts like she's 4yrs old. She leaves these long dramatic messages with a whiney/pouty voice like she's on the verge of tears because dd isn't home. " Please call me, i really really wanted to play with you today, Oh, i guess i'm gonna have to wait for you to get home, i'm really lonely today". If that isn't bad enough she will call back 5 minutes later and say " oh, did you just try to call me?"....I'm ready to rip my hair out between the phone calls and the doorbell ringing constantly.

Yes that would bother me. Luckily, my boys do not talk on the phone and my dd has her own cell phone, so we rarely get kid messages.

Actually, messages like this don't bother me much. I just overlook their lack of tact and chalk it up to young kids not yet getting phone etiquette. Some of my ds's friends messages are hilarious to me, but annoying to my ds. DD had a message one time, well, about 3 messages, and she was talking to herself about dd not being home and she should just call back later. Later was 3 minutes later. I thought it was funny the whole conversation she was having with herself, and wanted dd to call her back, but dd said she didn't care much for her so she didn't want to. I didn't make her.

I'm sorry, but this post had me laughing.
I can laugh now, because my children aren't old enough to have friends calling. At least you have let me in on what my future holds
