My niece is 10 yrs. old and I have no idea what to get her for Christmas, I can't for the life of me remember what is age appropriate I don't want to get her something that is too babyish for her, same with my nephew who is 11.

Both of my children who are this age LOVE getting cd's. You might ask what kind of music they like and go with that. Besides that idea, my 10 year old dd is just getting into the pre-teen stuff. Any name brand shirt (American Eagle to Old Navy) is wonderful to her! She also likes PLAYING in light colored real makeup...eye shadow, blush, lip gloss...but we don't let her wear it out anywhere! My son is 12...he is much harder right now! Find out if he is into anything in books, Star Wars, that kind of thing. My son is big time into Christopher Paolini's Inheritence book series. He would be THRILLED to get any of them..including ones he has already read...as a gift!
Hope that gives you a few options!

I agree that CD's (iTunes) or DVD's are good for this age...maybe ask for some suggestions?

My 11 year old son likes books, but he's an avid reader and has a lot of interests, so books are a good choice for him. He also still likes legos, and then stuff like Nerf items, Star Wars...just think of their interests. My son was so thrilled last year with a gift of a yo-yo and this book to do tricks.

The Klutz Book series are great - they have tons of them...a huge variety of all kinds of interests.

Good luck!

My dd's are 10, (almost 11). At this age they LOVE to get gift cards. Whatever the kids are in to - music, books, dvd's - a gift card is the best way to go (unless you know specifically what they listen to, read, and watch that you can just buy it). A portable cd player. Movie tickets. Bowling passes. Legos - thats a good one as the above poster mentioned. All my kids are getting them for christmas, they have such cool lego kits out now.

My dd also likes gift cards or for her birthday I made her a gift certificate for one clothes shopping trip with mom. That was a big hit. Does your nephew like video games? My boys are nuts for them.

My dd (10- too mature for her age) loves to get gift cards, makeup kits for home use only- (except for lip gloss), she likes to get CD's and DVD's too. For my nephew (almost 11), he still likes those Bionicles, video games and for his B-day we got him a gift card, he was thrilled with that.
