Personally I would listen to your doctor rather than this physic medical person . Tell the dr you want it cultured. If it comes back negative tell the dr you want a consult for a dermatologist.

MRSA is different than the Strep B you heard about during pregnancies. We take care of MRSA patients in the hospital while we are pregnant but we are wearing gown and gloves. There is no official info that it causes birth defects is what my dr told me 4 years ago when I was pg last.

No he probably wouldn't be sickly if he's not immunocompromised.

Keep us updated.

Once you have MRSA you always have it is the last fact I was educated on, you just aren't always contagious. It colonizes on the skin so in theory if you have an open wound on your hand and touch MRSA it can be transmitted to you.

It is not MRSA, and I'd bed dollars to donuts it's not any sort of bacterial infection. This long, he would be extremely ill, with fever, swelling and the spreading wouldn't be dots, but like cellulitis or some pretty nasty sores - really nasty.. Over this amount of time, he'd be one sick kid, or worse.

I would go more for some sort of parasite, something is getting him.

Group B Strep is a different bacteria altogether, though another example of a bacteria that is normally present in humans.
