Yes...my kids get allowance every week. It's not based on chores.

No, mainly because I don't have cash alot of times. I tried making certain chores for both kids and giving them .25 if I had to remind them and .50 if I didn't for each day they did it. Well, my ds got .50 one day and he didn't want it, he wanted to wait until I had enough to make dollars before he wanted it.. I told him he had to take what I had now or not anything. So his .50 sat on the tv for a few weeks and I took it back.

They don't do those chores unless I remind them. I think alot of times, they forget about allowances.

I found it easier to give it to them once a month. We also give $2 a week but it was easier instead of calculating whether it was a 4 week month or a 5 week month to just change it to $10 a month. We get paid once a month. Now they do too. It also makes it easier for them to save when they are not getting little bits here and there but a bigger amount once a month.

I'm pretty consistent in giving dd her allowance, but sometimes I forget.

Yes, my kids receive their allowance every friday. Their allowance is not tied to chores but it can be reduced for bad behavior.

My oldest dd age 11 can earn up to $10 a week by doing specific jobs around the house. The jobs are posted on the refrigerator and how much she is paid per job. When she does them she gets paid. When she doesn't, she doesn't get paid, simple as that. To me this is the best way to teach her about the real world of money. I don't know many people who don't have to earn their money. She is expected to do some things simply because she is a member of the family.
