Today I found out the volunteer coordinator asked dh if we could be homeroom parents again and he said "whatever you need from us to help out" and he never asked me!
1. I'm already commited to my younger dd's school and the class parties are on the same days and same times so unless I figure out how to clone myself I can't be in two places at once.
2. Last year I spent at least $20 a party on extra supplies, gift bags, etc. That's a total of $60-80 and I never heard a thank you from anyone but the teacher. I don't have this kind of extra money this year for a thankless job. I am more than happy to volunteer by calling people, making treats, etc, but I think other parents should step up to the plate....not all of them work or have other siblings to watch.

I agree that you can't actually be homeroom parent for 2 classes at once. When my kids were in elementary school, I alternated years. So one year I was DD's home room parents, and the next year I was DS's. I would still do other things with the other child like chaperone field trips or help with special classroom things, but only one room parent job at a time.

Maybe you should tell DH that HE is now the volunteer for that class!!! After a year of having to go in and do parties I'll bet he never volunteers you again!!

The problem is he works Halloween this year or else we would divide and conquer. Maybe it will work out for the Winter and Valentine's party that he can go there. It will be so much easier when they are at the same school next year.

Yes it is annoying that its ALWAYS the same parents. Ds school is having a fall carnival on Saturday but I had to back out as its my grams memorial service. Nothing I can do but I was already filling 2 spots! Makes me mad that parents don't particapate.....
