Most of you probably don't know, but I am organizing a Crop out Diabetes event in my area in October. I just got down to business and am getting things going. I sent out nearly 100 emails over the past two days asking for donations. I just got my first positive response! It is just such a great feeling!

I am bursting with excitement and just had to let some of it out!

My mom is a diabetic, and my dh's aunt is a severe diabetic, too. What you are doing is TOO COOL!!!

Thanks! My daughter is my inspiration. I can't take all of the credit. I got the idea from an email I got awhile back. A lady in Georgia started this idea and I thought it was the perfect way to raise money! She gave me all of the information I requested and I think it is going to be a blast!

Where is the lady in Georgia from? Do you know if/when she'll be doing it again? Sounds like something I'd be interested in too! I have a bunch of stickers I can probably send you for your event, too. I'll try to get it together soon since I'm moving and get it to you for your crop!

I'm really glad you're doing this. So many people think that diabetes just mean you can't eat sugar. They don't think about down the road when you can lose your vision, ruin your kidneys, lose a leg to neuropathy or suffer a stroke. n my soapbox: Ok, I'll get down now; sometimes it's hard to separate the nurse part of me.

The first sponsor is Scrapbook Creations. It is a local scrapbook store. She offered a Quilt-a-card scrapbook kit for each goodie bag! She also offered her tables and space for free. The only thing I am worried about is whether or not she understands that I am anticipating about 50 attendees. When I checked out her web page it says they have two class rooms, but I don't think that they will be big enough to hold 50 people plus vendors. I am going to call her today to see if I can get more info. It would be a perfect place though. Having a store right there would be nice for anyone who is short on anything and it is right on the river front so it would be a nice view. It did say in the email that I sent that I am anticipate 70 attendees (I put 70 because I am not sure of the outcome and I don't want to be short...this is also the amount that the gal from Georgia put on her letters and I am getting such a great response from the few places that I have mentioned this...I think I will get a good response).

Tina did it in Atlanta, Georgia and I think it was in May. She does it as an annual thing (which is what I would like to do if it takes off like I think it will)
