Maybe I am the only one who is working "backwards".

BUT

How do you go back and catch up?? I have just gotten into all of this scrapbooking stuff...and my ds is almost 15.....I am having a really hard time with doing his baby picture pages and going up from there.....

I have no problem with which pics to do...but the titles and the journaling....very hard....I am hurting my brain trying to remember things from that long ago.

Anyone in the same boat???

How do you do it??

And I haven't even started my oldest dd's pages yet....my brain hurts just typing that.

And poor Brooke, she was the second child so not too many pictures of her...and that was 12 years ago...way before digital was popular....

So to top it all off...I am going through boxes and boxes of photos!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AA

I am feeling bad that I would rather do the baby's pages (Ashlyn) and current photos of the big kids!! But I really need to concentrate on getting caught up!!

Stacey,
I understand where you are coming from I started doing books for my dsd and dss, they are twins and 17. I have been a part of their life since they were 1 year old. So I have been working on albums for them at which I started from the beginning and am moving to the present. I too had to go through tons of boxes of pictures, divide them and try to remember what year, event, etc. I think it will be easier when I hit the last few years as they will be dated because of the digital. So I just started at the beginning and am working to present. I just do my best at journaling. If it is not a loaded as more present ages, oh well.

I have no advice but to try and knock as much of it as you can out! I was lucky enough to have started scrapbooking when Bailey (my oldest child) was about 1. And that was right around the time I got my first digital camera. So it worked out and I didnt have too much to catch up on! Of course Im behind!

I am a pre scrapper that is I do pages for the events that haven't happend yet. That way when I do get the pics it is a matter of placing them in my books. When I get about a month ahead on my current book I then go back to a prevous unfinished book.

One of my big tips is to have an outline. So like I did with DDs baby book
1. title
2-3 about my parents
4-5 finding out and getting the nursery ready
6-7 pregnancy
8-13 shower pages
and so on so I had her whole first year laid out in advance. I do that with all my books that way I can do a page here and there instead of in order.
Another thing is I have yet to fall seriously behind and now I have the MS crops to keep me on track!

Stacey ~ I am kind of doing the same thing. My oldest is only 10, but I have nothing but "regular" photos from when she was little. I am trying to just jump in and do some as I can using those picutres for a challenge here...a challenge there. I have just come to grips with the fact that some of the older kids will have less baby pages ~ Maybe some major events, but not all the little everyday events that there will be going forward.

Do you have standard baby books for you older kids? You know the kind you get when they are born and you write when they first rolled over and such? If you do go back and look at that and it will help you remember those times and little stories about each kid. I also like to look at nursery ryhmes and the old fashioned baby story books I had when they were little for ideas.

I have the same problem. I just now got interested in scrapbooking after my 15 yr old dd needed information about our ancestors. I started putting photos (scanned copies) from the 1800s into books so my mom could tell me who the people are in the photos. I wanted to get that done so I don't lose any history. So, you are head of me. I haven't even started worrying about my own kids.

However, one thing I'm going to do when I start is looking back at home movies. Do you have any of those?

Would you believe, no I don't??

I am a horrible mommy, I didn't even do baby books for them!

When my first two were born and little, I worked full time...it was hard enough just taking pictures let alone put them in any kind of a book.

The nursery ryhmes and the home movies are a great idea....now I just need to get the VCR up and running...cause that is what those are on from that long ago....

Boy has technology changed a lot....

Thank you guys soooo much....it is nice just knowing I am not alone!!

HA!!! Try having SIX kids!! I only started this big time with number 5 and 6. I am NEVER going to get caught up. I just go with current and the past few years...and then will do more as the kids get older and I have more time. I hope!
