For some insane reason I started the boys out each with an 8.5x11 ring book. In hindsight, I'd have preferred to start with 12x12 post albums. Well, my question is since the boys' books are pretty much full do I stick with what I started with for continuity or do I go ahead and start doing 12x12 albums for them? Let me know what you think.

I would use a 12 X 12, you can scrap more pictures and a wider varity of papers and embelishments..

I use 12x12 RING albums! Thats not a choice. lol I would just start with 12x12.. you could always go back and put the 8 1/2 x11 pages down on 12x12 paper and add a little something to the strip thats left...

I'm running into the same dillema! I'm thinking of doing what Ember said and just gluing it onto 12x12 paper and being through with it! Let me know what you decide!

Oh, and if those are done, I'd just leave them and start a 12x12

Well, I guess 12x12 it will be.

Ember, why do use ring albums? I'm just wondering b/c the two page layouts seem to flow better on the post albums.

I started as a 12X12 post girl, I guess it was because I started with Stampin' Up. I have since steered away from 12X12, for the most part, (I do have the Kology Addison 12X12 post book and the entire Addison PP line to make a 12X12 scrapbook od Addison in Addison,. Corney, I know!) I do love srcapping in 8.5X11. I am the type who usually only likes 1-2 pictures on a layout, and I like it to be streamlined. 12X12 just seems liek so much space for me. I like the ringbooks because they are easier to add pages too. I know that they are not as pretty as traditional posted scrapbooks, but that is where altering comes in.

I like the ring album because 1. I can fit more in it. 2. I can switch pages around easier when they are out of order. and 3. Because I want all my albums to match.. (Bailey has linen, Brooke has green, DJ has navy) I use the SU ones.

I started with Creative Memories and was stupid enough to go with strap hinge albums. While they are super nice albums and super-secure (no pages falling out or anything), strap hinge is a PAIN IN THE BUTT to add to or rearrange pages in. I would have gone with post bound (that's what I buy now for gifting or small odd 'n' end albums). You can make them as thin as you want and you can also change out the posts to make them thicker if you want.
Also...if you really like just 1-2 pics per page, have you thought about doing an 8x8? They're smaller, but I LOVE doing my most favorite pics on 8x8 pages...because ALL of the attention is on the picture and not everything else.
