Question Am I the only one who still prefers wood mounted stamps over acrylic?

I like my acrylic stamps; I really do. However, I still prefer my wood mounted stamps. I just feel like it's easier to get them inked thoroughly and like I have more control with stamping.

I do both but have convert quite a bit of mine to use the aryllic. I think it just takes practice. I also think it matters where on the block that you place the stamp. I find it easier to ink if it is closer to the edge and always pat the ink pad onto the turned over stamp.

I have actually just started really using the wooden stamps, had a few before, but used the acrylics more. I would say it is pretty even now. BUT I agree with you, I think the wooden stamps stamp a lot more thoroughly. (or ink better) I have found that it also depends on what color I am using for some reason.

I have a really cool nesting alphabet that is acrylics, so I won't be giving those up anytime soon. (acrylics that is)

I also prefer wood over the clear. Clear are good if you are using one color, but if you want to color more than one color they suck (IMO).

However, if you want to see exact placement, clear is better. (as is the price ).

They need to make an inexpensive rubber stamp that inks well and has "no guess " placement.

Overall I think I like acrylic stamps better...simply for easy placement and depending on the size of your block you can stamp a whole word or multiple images in one shot. I do agree that wood stamps tend to ink a little better but it is also more time consuming to get out the stamp positioner (Stamp-a-Majig) if I need "perfect" placement. I think it's important to with the acrylics to stamp on a stamping mat to give you a crisp image. Rubber Stamping Mat

Kellynkay....have you ever used brush markers to ink your acrylic stamps in multiple colors?

yeah - but probably not the best kind. I have StampCraft Color Brushers that I bought at WalMart. It just seems that you can't "huff" the color as vibrant on them as you can on a rubber stamp.

Maybe I just need better markers. I didn't want to spend a ton of $$ initially since I didn't know if I would like it.
