I have just begun scrapbooking this week. I started with the birth of our first girl. I know I will need to go back and do our engagement, wedding, honeymoon, building our house and everything else that happened before kids.
So my question is how do I do my books? Do I make one for each different event and a seperate one for each kid, and then a family one?
We were going through pictures on the computer last night to pick out some to be printed so I can scrapbook them and I realized we don't have many pictures of dd#2 by herself. Most of them are with her big sister. So it would be a very full book if I made one just of her.
So should i just do a timeline book, maybe year by year.

Sorry, Austin, but you didn't provide enough options in that poll. I have one for each kid (they're actually both on their second) , one for myself (a book of me), a family one, and a pet one. The family one, the bom, and the pet one will stay with me and then will be passed on once the time comes. The individual books will go to each boy when he's ready.

definately not enough options...Mine is currently kind of a mish mash. If I have pictures to fit a layout I use them, but currently there is no order ~ just a wonderful book of chaos

So what do you include in the family one? Are some of the pages the same as pages in your kids' books?
I just don't have many pictures of #2 to make her a book as full as #1. I don't want her to feel bad.
Maybe I am thinking about it too much. But after I do all these pages I just don't know what to do with them.

I have a baby book for each kid that goes up to school age. I then have a family book which is picture of the whole family together or brother/sister, trips we take, outings, etc. I also have books for just my side of the family (parents, sister, etc.) and one for my husband side of the family. I also have a book of anesters for each of mine and my husbands families. I hope this helps. When I do my family book they are by years - 1991-until now. I also of course have a wedding book.

The family book may just be something that I don't want to put into an either/or catergory - you know have to decide which kid. But some will be in one of the boys' books and the family book. Usually, it's family outings (zoo, etc) or a family style pic.

I have a variety of albums...

Family album--anything and everything

Baby book--each of my 4 girls have one which includes only the special events in the first year of their life

School book--again, each child gets a new album for each year of school. I put ONLY school related items in the book, art work, school pictures, pictures from field trips, report cards, holiday plays, etc. (the first pages pf this book are always: I trace their hands, list their height, weight ans shoe size, then I ask them questions...what's your favorite: food, toy, movie, show. I wish...I love...I like to ___ with Mommy/Daddy/Sissies then I let them do whatever they want on the back of the page. You're heart will smile at some of their answers!)

Professional albums--include all of my professional pictures. This is a really neat album because it is like a timeline of my 4 girls growing up! It is simple too as I don't do anything but place photos in and label them.

Good luck--and my advice...do whatever you can keep up with and be happy about! Done is always better than perfect in my book!

I have:

wedding album
honeymoon album
family album - some of the pages are close to the pages in each childs album, but include everyone in them
album for each child - mainly picture of that child, very few of other child or family members (unless they are with said child)
album of our trip out west (we drove out west for several weeks and stopped at most of the tourist destinations we wanted to)
