Do you go to the post office??

Just put one stamp and send it?? two stamps to be safe??

I am talking about the ones that have an embellishment or two to make it "thicker".

A few years ago I was mailing invitations that had a charm on them...and when I went to the post office...they told me it would cost more because it was too "thick" to go through the machine.

Anyway, now I am paranoid everytime I send a card that has a large embellishment on it...haha....and put two stamps on it.

What do you guys do??

I have never thought about it. I just put a single stamp on it and let it go. I have never had one returned for additional postage either. Hmmmm... something else for me to ponder.

If I can't make it to the post office I just put 2 stamps on to play it safe. Haven't had any returned by doing this.

I just usually put 1 stamp on it. If it is really thick I will sometimes put 2 stamps on it and call it good. I hate the post office - mine alway has long lines with 4 computers and only one person helping you!!

I recently made invites for my friend's baby shower and when the person hosting the party mailed them out, they were returned to her because they had 2 small brads (that's it) and wouldn't go through the machine. I asked about it at my PO I was told that anything that is an embellishment and makes a card not perfectly flat requires a 58 cent stamp because they have to cancel the stamp by hand. I also think that it varies a lot from post office to post office what gets through on 41 cent stamps.

I'm not a mail clerk so i don't know the specifics of their requirements, but i have a girlfriend who makes alot of her own cards with embellishments on them. She always writes " Hand Cancel" on the bottom of the envelope and just throws them in her outgoing mail box for her carrier to pick up. Most of her cards that she sends me come with only 1 stamp. If it weighs more than 1 ounce it will require 2 stamps.
