Hi ladies. I have never posted over here - I am not a scrapbooker - but I have volunteered to put together scrapbooks for all 12 kids in my son's preschool class. I am insane. They gave me the books today and they are 12 x 12 with top loading pages that are protected with clear plastic. I know they make paper this size because I have seen it in Michaels, but I have a pretty small budget for supplies so they are not going to be fancy. I need some suggestions on where to buy paper for cheap and letters too, I guess. Would it be more economical for me to just get letter stickers, or do they sell letters already cut out, or what? I have no idea what I am doing with this! Any advice would be appreciated.

I do have another mom in charge of giving me all the pictures I need and I am guessing that I will probably have a couple of pictures for each page in a 20 page book. But I can't just stick them in there on the black book background. I need some color and maybe some cute little things to go on the pages too. Help!

Sometimes they have sales at micheals and jo anns for 4 for a dollar or sometimes 5 for a dollar. Also Dollar Tree has packages of 6 for a dollar. They sell punch out letters at walmart for around 7 dollars a package and you get a bunch walmart also has packages of the paper for like under 10 dollars for like 50 to 100 sheets. So you have to make around 200 pages? How much is your budget maybe that would be helpful to help you.

No kidding. I was floored when I saw how big the books were, and I had no idea that I was the ONLY mom that volunteered to help with this. Lucky me. But I have seen y'alls pages and I can assure you I am not striving for anything as nice as y'all do! I am going to keep it pretty basic. The pages will be for things like the first day of school, the Halloween and Christmas parties, the Easter egg hunt, the Valentines breakfast with the dads, etc. - someone has already thought out what they will be and so at least I don't have to come up with that. I think I have a $50 budget for supplies (not counting the books and pictures) and I really don't want to get sucked into spending my own money on this.

Are there any websites where I can buy in bulk and get good prices?

Thank you! Y'all are making me NERVOUS! I guess I hadn't really done the math and realized there are over 200 pages to do. What have I gotten myself into?

I think maybe I will ask each mom for a $5 donation to help with supplies. I don't think there is any way I will get what I need for the money they have budgeted. Do you think that is rude?

I am thinking that you should see about returning the 12 x 12 books and try to get 8 x 8. If you can. For starters.

Then you can get a stack of patterned 8x8 paper...that way you won't have to put too many embellishments on each page....just mat the picture...and let the "pretty" paper be the embellishment.

Hope that makes sense. I would do that before asking for donations...BUT I don't think it is a bad idea to ask for donations either...or at least some more help.

OH I forgot you wanted to add letters or journaling...

I would print it all out from the computer...just use different fonts and colors....you can always get a pack of assorted copy paper too.

Keep it simple.
