I want to do a book on DH's grandma...but

my MIL keeps interfering! DH's Gma is getting older and is not in goo health. I want to do a scrapbook about her for my boys. I really just want it to be about her....the foods she likes and hates, her view on the world, fave color, pictures of her throughout her life...stuff like that. My MIL keeps wanting me to put in every person in Gma's life (including herself)! She wants me to do a whole family heritage album about her side of the family, but I really am not interested in doing one. Is that terrible? Should I stick to my guns? I am considering putting a family tree at the back of the book....and that is a comprimise in my book.

Well, it is absolutely your project and you should do what you want. But, I think your MIL may be feeling a little skipped over, like she is your childrens Grandmother and she won't be around forever and there is no book on her or other family members like maybe she feels if there is a book on one single person she wants to be that one, ya no? I'm trying to look at it as if in the future my DIL wanted to do one on just my mother for the kids. Just trying to see it from both sides.

You hit the nail on the head i think. The fact is that MIL and myself are not endearing to each other...to be polite. We don't speak on phone at all, we email only information to each other, and in person we are polite at best....and at this point, comparitively, our relationship is good. On the other hand, We LOVE DH's Gma....MIL's Mom. So, as strange as it seems, doing an album on Gma and not on MIL is not a stretch.

One thing I just can't do...like really having scrappers block....is scrap this I have icky feelings about. I have major icky feelings about MIL!

Oh yeah...I didn't mention that when DH and I had our first son (we have 2 together now) I gave MIL an "all about me" book and asked her to fill it in for our kids. This was 7 years ago....it's blank.
