Has anyone here had it or know someone who has??

I have an ex-boss who had it done a few months ago and
she is doing good. I want to ask a question, but I don't
want to embarass her......what happens to the excess
skin?? I know there has to be some.....if it gets removed
surgically, it would be expensive I think.

Anyhow, just curious.....

Yes there can be excess skin and i think the individual has to decide if they can live with it or not. IF not it would have to be removed surgically and your right it isn't cheap.

well alot depends on your age and the elasticity left in your skin on how much would need to be removed. i have a friend who had it done she was over 400lbs now is 170 and she worked out and did strength training and has no excess skin what so ever. so there are many factors. now my mil has lost 80lbs and she would need to have hers surgically removed she has zero elasticity.

I had gastric bypass in December 2006 and lost 130 pounds. Yes there is excess skin. You can wear compression garments to help hold the skin in or you can have plastic surgery to have it removed. I had plastic sugery in May of this year to have my extra skin removed. It can be very expensive as most insurance companies won't pay, although if you can document skin irrations and such with your primary (pictures included) they will some time pay for part of it.

If you have any further questions please feel free to ask or pm me.

Thanks! I have wondered about it for a long time. I have considered it.
I am scared of surgery in general. I am a healthy 31 yr old, but have
been overweight for about 10 years. I worry about "that day" when
my bad habits are going to become health problems though!!
