I've recently had to start taking some prescription drugs (not the happy kind!!!) and was curious what people do to save money on prescription drugs that they have to buy on a regular basis.

Any tips?

We get generics where possible. Otherwise we can't do much of anything. We have a $10 co-pay for generics and a $25 co-pay for non generics. We pay $55 in co-pays each month if no one gets sick! Normally our pharmacy bill is much higher each month (I am well known to all the staff at our pharmacy!)

We have no health insurance so we get them filled at Walmart for $4.00, sometimes depending on the dosage we might have to pay a little more. So far $8.00 is the most i pay for prescriptions between me and dd.

None of our prescriptions are ever ones that are $4

Our co-pay is $9 on prescriptions. I'm sure that would vary if we opted for generics. I did ask one time for a generic version of one and they told me it wasn't offered. But $9 is pretty affordable! I'll take that!

Otherwise, on base it's free.

My co-pay ranges from $10-$35 depending on if it's generic or not. But luckily (knock on wood), no one is taking any meds. on a regular basis and we only need prescription when someone is sick. However, I just took my new au pair to open an account at the bank I bank at and found out that have this program (which you pay $4.99/month), and it covers a lot of things such as discounted precriptions, discounted vision, you also get some sort of entertainment book, some type of insurance, and a whole bunch of things. I thought that was a pretty good deal, espcially if you don't have any type of insurance.
