argh!!

I just got back from the Y. The Y I go to is pretty quiet. The time I go in is usually around the time a lot of seniors go for their swim or some weight lifting ~ just to give you an idea of how quiet it is. Then on the rare occassion you will get some macho thick neck guy come strolling in thinking he owns the place. Today was one of those occassions.

I was in weight machine room using free weights with about two seniors. They were quietly doing their thing and I was doing mine. I was on about my ninth push up (which is heroic for me) when this guy starts moaning and groaning and huffing and puffing doing bicept curls on the machines. He was being overly loud about it too which to be honest was very distracting. It was completely obvious to me anyway, he wanted to be noticed. A senior gentleman sitting on a machine infront of me looks at me and chuckles quietly. We were both thinking the same thing ~ "meat head". About fifteen minutes later he's still moaning and groaning in our quiet little space, I smartly yet sarcastically say to him "hey do you need a spot" knowing full well having a FEMALE offer to spot him would be insulting, he looks at me and says "No, I'm good" . I said "oh ok...it just seems like you're struggling quite a bit there...wouldn't want you to put your back out or something". The senior winked at me and continued on with his work out. The meat head grew quiet and then walked over to me. He actually says to me "you come here much?". I laughed out loud and said "why's that?". He says "I haven't seen you here before". I said "I'm here about four days a week". Then I realized, OMG he could be hitting on me (I was not wearing my ring, as per usual when in the gym). "Oh" he continues to say "maybe we could go for coffees or something later". I looked at him funny and the senior guy pipes up "she's with me". IT WAS HILARIOUS!!!!

Too funny! I wish I could have been there! At least you know you have any ally in your "senior man" should Meat Head try to talk to you again

Ahhhhh yes,,,,it's the ritual mating-call of the over inflated ego of the male species. He quietly stalks his prey and then starts to move in on it, giving out his unique mating-call in hopes to impress the female species. lol, too many years of watching " Wild Kingdom" for me.

It's kinda funny that you made reference to the wild kingdom. The older gentleman I was talking to also described the meat head as a "peacock boldly strutting his stuff and ruffling his feathers trying to find a mate". :D I love old people!!!
