I hesitated posting this because I didn't want it to come off as "wow, look at me, I did a nice thing". But I thought maybe I'd take the chance, and someone would see it and 'pay it forward' to someone else.

I was at Aldi and the woman in back of me had an armload of groceries. Since I had a cart full I told her to go ahead of me. She thanked me, then as the clerk rang her up realized she couldn't find her debit card (our Aldi takes debit, no credit). I deduced from her stuff that the items were probably for kids - apple juice, milk, bread, other little things that made me think she ran out of things for her kids.

She didn't have much cash ($1 and change), like I never do half the time. I just felt so bad that she made a special trip (it was 7:30 pm) for things for her kids and she was going to have to go without them. She put back all the things except the apple juice, and I looked at her and said, "I can help you out". I gave the cashier the $$ for her groceries (less than $10). The poor woman was like, "I can write you a check!" and I just said, "You know what? When you see someone in the same situation just do the same thing" She was so grateful she gave me a big hug and I said with tears in both our eyes, "happy new year!"

It felt so good to do one little thing for someone!!!

As someone who has been in that woman's situation, I thank the gods for people like you who have helped me out.
And yes, I pay it forward when I can.

That's awesome of you, and why not come here and say "look at me?". We do it with our kids' good news, why not our own!

And besides, you have officially joined this challenge, posted last week:

Good for you. I wish we had more people in this world that think like you do.

Very nice of you! You made that woman's day! Sounds like it was close to closing time (they close early, right?) and would have been such a hassle for her to go get her card or cash. Well done!

I'm glad you posted -- it gives us all a little reminder that we are capable of doing the same thing, and that we should!
