If you know me, you know I HATE January. I won't get into the specifics....but let's just say the whole month sucks.

It's hard for me to get excited about something, to get involved, to get motivated, to be happy in general. I am also very testy .... and have ZERO patience ~ with my kids, with my dh, with myself, with life in general. Let's just say going to the gym has become a battle of wills within myself. I am happy for those who are committed to fitness and are making the effort, but HATE the crowds at the gym in January....I'm limited to what I can do no. UGH!

How do you beat the blues?

Its hard cause I am in the same boat.
Just working out at home (this is where my library of DVDs) helps. Just get the endorphines going!

Ever since I started back taking 1 gram (1000 mg) of Omega 3 / DHA with each meal (3 times a day) it feels like my head has cleared substantially. It's made a huge difference. I often forget about it because I only need it in the winter when I get the winter blues, which happened to hit particularly early this year.

I don't know if it will work for you, but it sure makes a difference to my state of mind.

Normally I would answer that taking a walk outside helps clear my mood and head. BUT, I live in Wisconsin and have icy snowy sidewalks everyday, so I'm relegated to the treadmill. Which isn't the thing to break my bad mood! So I guess my only answer now would be CHOCOLATE!

I am not a fan of the January gym crowds either so I go during the "off" hours. Lately, I have been going around 1:00 so that I am out by the time the 3:00 crowd comes in.

I have a "bad" month too. Mine is August. It's just a tough month to get through. I'll be thinking about you, girl! Just keep plugging along.

(((HUGS)))

First I'm sending you some hugs right now!!!!! We all need some downtime and maybe you just need to back off a little bit (which I know is not easy)!!!! I will say I am one those who has recommitted back at the gym but going at 5:30am there is not too much of a crowd

Cup of tea, good book, some scrapbooking, and chocolate always help me through my blues!!!

Going to check out Kathryn's suggestion of Omega 3's too - I never bought more when I ran out a few months ago.

Maybe it would help if you spent some time doing something you really enjoy and get some quiet time. That is what I try to do when I feel down

Thanks, it's worth looking into.

Chocolate is GREAT in the moment, but then I go a LOT overboard and then get eater's remorse

I wish I had more time for MYSELF. Even when I'm at the Y and it's sort of "me" time, I am always looking at the clock to be sure I am getting as much in as I can before picking up the kids and then rushing home to get them lunch and then take them to school....ugh!

I just want things to be easy.

blah!
