You might want to watch Oprah today. It's about health issues for women 35 and over. We can meet back here and talk about it later (I won't see it until I'm on the treadmill tomorrow morning).

I don't think so. I think it's more about signs of peri-menopause and the dos and don'ts of getting through the this 'hormonal' time in our lives.

I have just about all of those symptoms already mostly because i am hypothyroid, so Menopause shouldn't be too hard of a transition for me, but i sure am looking forward to the lighter more scant menstrual periods. Would be nice to start skipping those soon, but so far no luck!

I have been watching Oprah's "Best Life" series and love it! The webcasts are great, too. I'll be watching today's show, and told my mom she should be sure to watch, too (although, she usually does anyway). I am an "information junkie." I'd rather learn all I can about things so I can make good decisions - even if the topic's an uncomfortable one to consider.

The 12 symptoms are:

--Change in pattern of periods. The can be shorter or longer, lighter or heavier, more or less time between periods. Because of the irregularity and unpredictability of this, you may still be able to get pregnant.
--Hot flashes—sometimes called "hot flushes"—and night sweats. These are sometimes followed by a chill.
--Trouble sleeping through the night, with or without night sweats
--Vaginal dryness
--Mood swings, feeling crabby and crying spells, likely because of lack of sleep
--Feeling mixed-up, confused or unfocused
--Hair loss or thinning on your head. Hair growth on your face.
--Racing heart
--Headaches
--Joint and muscle aches and pains
--Change in sex drive
--Bladder control problems

I had the first symptom & attributed it to peri-menopause, but it turns out it was a uterine cyst. Once that was removed, I've been good as gold again.
