What's going on? Being a vegeterian, I'm careful with food intake . I don't drink soda, just coffee and water. I use treadmill 25-30 min a week at least 3 times, on the highest incline. My weight has not budged! Advice please.

Have your measurements changed, even though your weight hasn't?

Muscle is more dense than fat - if you're replacing fat with muscle, you're not necessarily going to see a drop in the numbers on the scale. They may even increase.

are you at a peak? meaning you've lost some weight recently, and now to get it back into the wieght losing groove, you need to either lower your calories a bit more or exercise a bit more....

or maybe you are at your bodies natural wieght, which I think we all have programmed in!

either way sounds like your doing a great job to keep healthy!

Hmmm...I would suggest changing your cardio a bit. Do you use a treadmill at home or do you go to a gym? If it is at home, maybe try increasing your speed with less of an incline or jogging outside. Maybe even a video. If you go to a gym, I would probably try an elliptical or stepper (or anything else really...) and probably increase your time a little. Also, do you do resistance training? Increasing muscle tone will also increase your metabolism.

Sounds like you are doing a GREAT job though! Hang in there and keep up the healthy lifestyle! I bet you feel great! (I need to work on cleaning up my diet a bit more. )

Sometimes we just plateau and need a little change of pace.

are you writing down what you eat and counting calories? I know it sounds so boring and monotonous, but it WORKS. While I was losing I stuck to around 1400 calories a day and 3 to 5 hours of cardio a week, then I added weight training for an hour once or twice a week. I was consistently losing 1.5 pounds a week. Now to maintain I still write it down (I round it - I am not totally anal about it) and find that I need to stay between 1800 and 2000 calories a day. If I go over for more than a day or two, I will gain.

You just have to figure out the science for your body. I tinkered with the calorie intake until I got it right. It was a yearlong process to lose the whole 30 pounds and another year to figure out how to keep it off and try to be happy with the end result. Good luck. How much are you trying to lose?

Thanks everyone for responding! So much to ponder on!

I exercise at home. My goal is to lose 20lbs and tone my thighs. I know I can reduce my intake, but I'm constantly hungry. I especially love munching at night, which from "current" finding, seems fine. The experts stress the total calorie intake and mine fluctuates from day to day. How do I control hunger?

all this typing about food got me hungry...snack time!

You definitely to add in some strength training and change up your cardio workout. Your body starts to get used to the same old work out and so you start to plateau in your weight loss. I usually change up my routine every couple of weeks...mostly because I get bored with my workouts easily.

And like others mentioned, you gotta watch what you eat.

My weight NEVER fluctuates.....it's been two years since I've been working on it. I instead lose inches....and that's all I care about! I can see the muscle definition, I can feel my body getting strong and my clothes are falling off me. That's proof enough for me

What are your inches like? Are you going up or down or staying the same within the clothes you wear?

If you haven't budged, I would say it's time to up your cardio and lower your calorie intake and incorporate some resistance training (weight lifting) in your work out regime.

My school of thought has always been: burn more than you consume! Food is fuel not cargo!
