When someone says to someone:

" You look great for just having had two/three/four kids".....

What exactly do you think they mean by that?

I think it's a compliment...I guess the person is trying to say that you don't look like you've had kids, because of course, we all know that people that have kids get all fat and gross. Right? (dripping with sarcasm)

I think maybe, what people are trying to say is that having 3-4 kids, you are busy and maybe do not have alot of time for yourself, and finding that time to look good is showing!

I have 3 boys and I always get that and everytime I take it as a compliment. And if for some reason someone says some other remark like I've gotton before like "Oh you've gained some weight since the last time I saw you" (even though I'm still at my weight for my height), I say "Well I have to have something to show for my 3 boys".

I take it as if they met you on the street and didn't know you, they would not think that you had given birth to three (or however many) kids/were a mother. I think it means that it's apparent you are taking care of yourself.

I think most people mean it as a compliment. But comments like that always seem to rub me the wrong way!

It's a compliment. It means just because you are a busy mom it doesn't mean you have let yourself go in order to focus all of your time and attention on your kids.

Definatly a compliment , and I noticed usually its given by someone who is Not happy with the way their body looks after having only two kids , and they seem in awe over how good a woman can look after having 4 or 5 kids.
LOL - I was just at a school function and There is a mom who just had her 7th child She can still wear her teen daughters size 5 jeans.!
So yeah I would say she definatly doesn't appear to have given birth to 7 children. It just doesn't seem possible.
But that is cause everyones body is different.
