I think it depends on where you live. My sister doesn't get them eather. Where we live there are a lot or Mormon's but here they don't go door to door. We even get people that are just startign their own church and try to get you to go. I was shocked when we first moved here and that was one of the cases. I was like your own church what do you mean, it was something I only heard about in the news when people did crazy things.

I called their church and left my call back information to what I thought about what they did to my sign. So yes MOST people that do sell their god door to door are not doing it for the right reasons. IMO
Now see, I would have chased them down, tackled them at the knees, taken my sign back, and told them, "Thou shalt not steal." But that's just me.

This is one thing that "nearly" came up today - by nearly, it could have but it didn't and for that I'm thankful.

My mom went to a retreat this weekend with her church (Catholic). I talked with her today, and she told me there was a part where everyone was praying for their family members or friends to join the church. She told me that when she thought of me, she stopped and decided that she didn't want me to join her church, as she was happy with who I am and what I believe.

I'm happy she felt that way - happy with her faith, and happy that I have mine - though they are very different.

Well, Mormons are Christians, so then you have had someone knock on your door.

They were not there to share the Christian gospel, they were teaching us about Joseph Smith. They were open and honest about this and their intention. That is why I worded it that way.

Because, in my experience, they don't let up. You give them an inch & they try to take a mile & keep inviting you, keep talking to you about their faith, keep saying they will pray for me. I respect their beliefs - they should respect mine. Since they don't, I do not wish to associate socially with people like that.

Its very interesting to me that all who have responded saying they are Christians are unaware of Jesus command in bible. At Matthew 24:14 and 28:19, 20. I can't imagine it is a easy thing for someone to go and knock on a strangers door. But because of love for God and their neighbor they do it. It is also one of the signs of the last days. That being said I think everyone has someone in a religion who is over zealous or has personality flaws. No religion can claim to be perfect but some religions do their utmost to be obedient to God and his commandments.

Jesus does want us to share the Good News of the gospel. I do believe that there are people that God is guiding to us to share what they need to hear. The Bible says that we don't look for God on our own He draws us to Him. If we just rattle on with no promting from the Holy Spirt the outcome can very well leave a bad taste in the persons mouth who is not interested. Not to say that someday they won't be. Each Christian this interested person comes in contact with waters the seeds planted. Some times it is an all at once moment other times it is a gradual progression.

The Bible is honest when it says it is foolishness to those who are not His. The world hated Him (Jesus) so it is only natural that the world will hate us also. It should come as no shock to Bible believing Christians that most people don't like us for a bunch of reasons.

But if our good news is veiled, it is veiled from those who are on the way to destruction: Because the god of this world has made blind the minds of those who have not faith, so that the light of the good news of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, might not be shining on them.
2 Corinthians 4:3-4

It's called brainwashing. From personal experience I've found that some religions are not as benign as they appear. Practices such as shunning your own children are used and to me that is very un-christian.
