Default Is your swimsuit size the same as your clothing size?

I returned two swimsuits to Lands End that were too small. I went up one size for both and they were still too tight. They were not "control" swimsuits so I don't know why they were made so small.

Do you go up/down or wear your normal clothing size?

I assume it varies by manufacturer, too.

Heck yes! I wear a 6 in clothes and a 10 or 12 in bathing suits. Lands End suits don't fit me well at all which is so surprising because that is their whole claim to fame that they fit and flatter so many women. We have a LE store in the Sears at our mall and I have tried on dozens of them and haven't ever found one that works.

Wow! That much of a difference. No wonder I could barely get the dang thing on Thank you so much for sharing.

In the past, I've bought TYR suits that are sized differently. I think I wear a 36 but I'm not positive

I donated a bunch of suits and don't have any at home to compare. I guess I'll have to go to the store and try them on.

Thanks Ruthie, now I won't feel bad if I can't squeeze into my normal size

I guess I'm the oddball. I have 2 Land's End bathing suits and one is a size 6, and the other is an 8. I wear a size 6 or 8, so it's the same for me!

I had a LE swimsuit last year and I thought it was the same as my clothing size. I decided to donate it because it had pulls all over it. The Faille ribbed material didn't hold up well.

I just reread my post and I should have typed heck no. I was a little distracted - I was reading the board and building little paper models of a boat and a tank that my boys were having trouble with. They were tricky! But I have never been able to wear any brand of bathing suit that is in the single digits. Especially with boobs.

I'm a 16/18, depending on the brand of clothes. My swimsuits right now are 16s, but they are good brands (Miracle suit). I have to find something that keeps girls in place, and that's a challenge.

For my Daughters bathing suits , I have always gone 2 sizes up from her pant size - No matter what the brand - from Gymboree to target - that works!

My favorite bathing suit is a lands end and it is my pant size! I thought their brand ran more true to size

Other brands, I definatly go up 2 sizes , depending on the cut. Brands that I can think of that run small on me are nike and liz claiborne.
