Are You Getting Enough Sunshine? | Fine Balance Wellness

"According to a recent study, in order to maintain adequate vitamin D levels during the cold winter months means you need four times the current recommended dose. The current recommended level of five micrograms (200 International Units) of vitamin D is seen by many as insufficient.

" Approximately 30 minutes of sunlight per day, before 11am or after 3pm, provides sufficient sunlight exposure to make appropriate levels of vitamin D for most individuals, while avoiding excessive exposure to damaging rays."

It's supposed to be a bright sunshiny day out today! Finally we up here in the "north" are hopefully getting back down into the good ol' sun. I can't wait!

I definitely feel better if I get my sunshine.

When it is warm enough, I like to have my morning quiet time outside. The sunshine really helps in starting my day right.

Thankfully, yes, we are. I have seen and heard about the harsh winter this year in the north and luckily for us in OK, we haven't had to experience too much of it. We had one snow / ice storm but other than that, it's been pretty mild. Last year was far more harsh because I remember specifically while training for the half then, I was running in ice, snow and sleet. Not this year!

I definitely don't get enough sunshine. I'm stuck in an office 7:30 - 4pm Monday - Friday. I do try to get out on the weekends some, luckily winter is ALMOST over here in Wisconsin. Winter is just a really hard time in this state!
