What is the best way to deal with jet lag? What has worked and hasn't worked for you?

I never had trouble with sleeping as I often arrived exhausted from either direction but I did have some tummy troubles every time. It helped to eat light and a lot of toast and fruit or plain veggies and nothing rich or creamy or too spicy for the first few days. I would also wake up really hungry in the middle of the night (when switching time zones greater than 6 hours difference) and would keep some plain cracker by the bed to calm the tummy and stop the grumbles.

Melatonin supplement. That is what is naturally produced in your body to help regulate your sleep/wake cycle. You can buy it at any drug store.

This is a good thread. I haven't really ever had jet lag. I am thinking I might when Noah and I fly to England. I guess it works that I am night owl. The time difference is only 5 hours.

for me I don't usually have any when traveling east to west coast. I did tho when I traveled to France.. With me it is HYDRATION in every way. LOTs of water, lotion, lip balm. Also trying to change your sleep pattern as soon as possible. Even starting sometimes before a trip by 30 mins.

I've never had jet lag either. My longest flight has only ever been about 2 1/2 hours. But I do sometimes get the tummy trouble that was mentioned in a pp, and I've just found that its not as bad if I stay away from soda before, during and a little after the flight, and just overload on water instead.

I don't have a problem with it flying domestically, but I am notoriously bad when flying internationally. LOL Nothing really works for me. I tend to spend the first few days in a fog, becuase I cannot resist sleeping and then I'm wide awake at night, when I should be sleeping, and it's really just agony. LOL! I do give it the whole college try each time I do it, but it's easier said than do for me.
