Did someone say something to you, unexpectedly, that just made you smile from ear to ear, or even blush?
Did someone notice something about you that you had never seen before?

What is the nicest compliment you have ever received?

When my daughter told me that she was glad that I had raised her the way I did.

When my husband told me he thought I was a good mom (and NOT when he just says "Maggie loves you!", that drives me nuts).

This is a direct quote from an e-mail I got from one of my closest friends. It was the nicest compliment I ever got.

"I adore the anthropological side of you that can within two minutes make a stranger feel relaxed and welcomed and you have them in genuine conversation sharing about themselves. Nothing is fake. They are truly opening up to you and seem thankful that you took the time to be present in their life."

Off the top of my head I'd have to say the two times that guys I knew told me I was the kind of girl that every guy hoped to marry.

One was a guy I knew in HS and dated briefly and he told me that. The other was a quadriplegic patient I helped care for in the hospital (Evan Bayh's cousin) and when he was being discharged he told me he wanted to talk to me. He said he knew lots of pretty girls, but he didn't know any pretty girls who were also smart and funny, and he proceeded to tell me that he hoped sometime in his life he was lucky enough to meet a girl just like me to marry. I always thought both of those compliments were so sweet!!

Can I do another I just thought of (Or am I being a compliment hog here!!). At my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary celebration both of them spoke. My MIL (who I didn't always adore) while speaking said that I was the best mother that she had ever seen. Of course her daughter who had a child, her sisters with children, her gazillion nieces with kids, etc were all sitting there listening to her say that. So I was stunned when she said it and took it to be a huge compliment.

One of the best physical ones that I ever got ... I was walking on the beach in San Diego and this guy whistled at me or something. I looked at him and, when I'm inquiring or confused about something, I tend to have what is perceived as a "dirty look" (which I don't mean but it comes across that way). And this guy, who evidently thought I was glaring at him said in a defensive tone, "Well ... you're not THAT hot." As a person that never even considers themselves even remotely "hot" that was pretty cool.

But, as for real comments -- overhear my mother tell someone that I was a good mother, that was nice.

Besides dh telling me that "I was the best wife he has ever had" .

It would be when my customers tell me, that when ever they come in I make their day. Because I am always smiling and ask them how they are!

A certain someone did one of those corny facebook notes about her friends and said she thought I was 100% genuine. I thought that was an awesome compliment coming from someone who I've never met in real life!

Thanks

My favorite compliment was while shopping at Walmart about 3 weeks ago. A lady I had passed in many of the aisles told me how well-behaved and polite my ds is (he likes to talk to everyone that we pass . That totally made my day!
