Today I decided to check out a church near my new house that is ELCA (like I am). I went to the 8 am service that was supposidly the traditional one. I could not believe how many people were there!!! I guess I am just a small town girl. I am used to maybe 100 to 150 people in the congregation with no one ever sitting in the first 5 pew at all!!! The church was packed. There were 2 pastors and a litergy person, 2 alcolytes, a choir, a whole bunch of ushers, and greeters!!!!! Holy cow!!!! It was kinda overwhelming for me. I am making my effort though. Next week I will visit a different ELCA church in town. I need to call and find out about Sunday School programs and youth activities too. Finding a new church is kind of a daunting task!

My dh did that when we were "shopping" for a church after we got married. He was raised Missouri Synod Lutheran and I was raised ELCA. We found a Methodist church here in town that we absolutely loved and felt very welcomed in. I just thought I'd throw that out there - that it was good for us to be open about different denominations. We are very happy with our new church!
