Easy easy easy things you can do from the comfort of your own home. Don't have weights? Pick up some gallon juice containers!! Don't have a fitness ball, try these exercises on the floor instead!

We have On Demand channels on our cable system and they have Exercise on Demand. They have everything from yoga, pilates, cardio, walking, specialty programs to belly dancing. The segments last from 8 minutes to 30+ so I can do a short one (or a couple of them) when I don't have a lot of time. That exercising along w/ a 1200-1300 calorie a day diet helped me lose 35 lbs. this year.

Don't forget soup cans can double as 'light' weights. I did this when Iwas just starting to strength train and didn't know if weights would be a good investment (They were btw)
3boys2anglz, that is awesome! We have that exercise channel...I check it out every once in awhile...I do like the quick workouts!

I am about to receive my associate degree in exercise science so I have spent alot of time learning and researching exercise and fitness. My last position was an operations manager at a health club. Let me just say that I do not belong to a gym, and I probably never will. I do all my workouts at home or in the local parks.
The fitness industry is all about gimmicks. Thats how they make there money. All you need to work out is some basic equipment (barring the possibility that you want to be a body building fitness competitor) to get yourself in shape. If money is an issue (trust me, I understand this one) then you can do a total workout without any equipment. You just do body weight exercises (pushups, squats, lunges, leg lifts, etc.). This is generally enough for those of us who would like to do some toning and are more interested in maintaining our mobility as we age.
If you are set on some equipment, I highly recomend resistance bands/ stretch tubing. They are inexpensive, come in different training levels and are portable. I take my bands to my local parks and use the childrens play equipment to attach the bands on to. I make sure to choose a park that is a good walk away so I get my fat burning in too.
A balance ball is also a great investment and now everyone carries them. You can get them cheap.
So far I have dropped 55lbs since my little guy was born in July. The best part is, it's easy and convenient. I combine my daily baby walk with working out to save time.
Good luck to all!

Don't forget just walking! It is good exercise, but healthy for you even if you're not trying to just lose weight!

I usually do the workouts that are on FIT TV. I love that channel.
I will not buy any kind of big equipment to exercise with. My mom and dad have two treadmills and they never use them.. they have crap sitting on them. Even though I love to run, if I had a treadmill, it would be piled with crap too. I know I would never use it and it would be a waste of money.. although, if I was to get something, it would probably be that or an ellyptical.

Careful with the soup cans! My mom and I were working out one morning and we were using soup cans. One of her cans accidentally slipped from her hand and landed on her eyebrow! She ended up with a pretty big bump and black and blue! I've never had this happen to me and have used cans lots for this, but just be careful. I think her hands were getting sweaty and that's how it happened. Basic hand weights are fairly cheap, usually .50 cents to $1.50 per pound or so. I got 3 and 5 lb weights and paid less than $5 per pair.
