I love to take some of my summer things and use them to layer with some of the "lighter" winter apparel during the transition into fall/winter. Fall is ALL about layering!!

My best advice is to go through your closet! Usually I look at the stores and magazines for ideas on the latest looks, then I go through my closet and see if I can put them together with what I already have. Nine times out of ten it's possible!

My best advice is:

Before you go shopping, go through all of your fall/winter clothing! You may have bought something or been given something you forgot about that you just love! Some of your favs. from last year might be a little worn, or your taste may have evolved. So take inventory of what you have and look at what outfits you have to put together. Decide if you need more jeans, a sweater, etc...and what colors and styles you are going to look for. That way you have a game plan and you can keep your eyes open whenever you are shopping. You can make smarter spending choices that way!

Kohl's has some great clearance sales. If you go on Senior discount days, even better.

Anyway, who makes the rules when it comes to fashion? If YOU are comfortable and like what you are wearing, that's all that should matter. IMHO

Have a great day.

For your toddlers, who grow so fast, I rec. checking out Walmart and Target. Toddlers grow so fast and they get messy! These stores have tables on clothing...pants and shirts that mix and match. They are really cheap! I bought my daughter a pair of pink yoga pants and 2 matching shirts for $4 each!

That way, she looks clean and cute. Plus, WHEN they get ruined on the playground at preschool, it's not a big deal!

Salvation Army is a great place to get playclothes, dresses for church, and halloween costumes! It's "hit or miss" so you may have to make a weekly visit, but you can find some awesome deals!

Check your local area for stores like "Big Lots." Our local area has a store called, "Gabriel Brothers." In the past I have gotten things like Scetcher flip flops for $6 or $7 each. Plus I have gotten jeans from Ann Taylor Loft for $12.99!! I love those jeans! I have gotten many other great deals there too! They have nice neckties for as low as $1.99. Named brand ties like Geoffery Bean and Tommy Hilfiger (sp?) go for $5.99!! They get new selections all the time!

So, especially if you move to a new area, ask around and check out local stores just like this one! ours here also sometimes has Doug and Melissa wooden puzzles for as low as $3.99 (the ones that are usually $9.99). Yes, I know that's not a "fashion" idea, but it's still something that is good to know!

Yard Sales!!! Goodwill!
Yes I love to shop Kohls and Marshalls too (too much sometimes LOL) I have a family of 5 and have to be frugual. I find a lot of great finds at yard sales and second hand shops. Just last week I found a J Crew puffed vest and a Calvin Klein Sweater at Goodwill for like 3 dollars each! Last week I bought my son two pair of slightly used Nikes at a yardsale for .50 each.

I thought of one more. Got a teenage daughter? Raid her closet. I do it all the time.
We are not exactly the same size but we do share a lot of items. She has all the funky hats and scarves that are in. I have the classic sweaters. It works for both us.
