I'm still around but I have been very bored with my exercise routine lately so I haven't been checking in. Trying to think of something new and exciting to try. I have asked my dh to get the kids to get me that wii game EA Active for my birthday in a couple of weeks. It is supposed to be fun and you can use all of the equipment you have at home to create individualized workouts. I have a ton of stuff like weights and ab ball and medicine ball and all that, so I think it might be fun. You can do 30 day challenges on there where every workout is different and it incorporates lots of sports moves. It is like a virtual personal trainer. I think I might like it since I won't know what to expect from the workout from day to day. I want some unpredictability! Anyone have it? Do you like it?

I'm just SO bored with my 4 mile loop and workout dvds. SNOOZE SNOOZE!!! I go through the motions with no real sense of accomplishment. I seriously need a change.

Hey Maggie, I have the EA Active. I do really like it. I did complete one 30 day challenge, but not within the 30 days. I am actually wanting to restart a challenge. You can choose your intensity level and also customize workouts. The lower body workout was wonderful. The resistance band that came with the game, was a little flimsy. I really didn't feel my arms being worked much. I probably need to tie another knot in the band to see if that gives it a little more resistance. It is definitely fun and something different to do. I do recommend it. Also, something else that is fun that DH got me for my birthday is my Disney Dance Dance Revolution for the Wii. Me and the kids have had a blast playing around on that.

It is too bad you don't have a gym near you. I just tried a spinning class that seriously kicked my butt!! It is not boring and I really like the instructor.

I know - it is very frustrating. The reasonable gyms around me don't offer classes during "mommy" hours. The classes are all geared towards professionals - 6 AM, noon for the lunch hour crowd, and 5:30, 6:30, and 7:30 for the after work crowd. I actually spent several hours this weekend calling about 5 of them to see if they might work for me and totally struck out. We have a Y that is really close to my house, which is where most of my friends that aren't members of a country club go but it is a fancy Y and it costs $100 a month which seems really steep to me. We already pay that much for our swim/tennis and my kids do sports through a church league that we spend almost $1000 a year for, so the only thing I would be paying for is a few classes. Not very appealing.

Now once both of my kids are in school until 2:30, lots of options will open up for me, but that is still about 2 years away. And if I was more agreeable to childcare, that would help my situation too, but the gym childcares around here are nasty. Luckily I have a bunch of home gym stuff. My dh works out at a gym really close to his work and he plays a lot of tennis, so he is covered. It is just Mom left to fend for herself!
