Of course, as luck would have it, I am expecting AUNT FLO the night of the formal. ARGH!! The dress I am wearing will surely snow my bloated body....any remedies on how to alleviate the bloating and water retention? REMEDIES THAT HAVE WORKED FOR YOU.

I start taking a water pill a week before I'm due... I did it for my 1st wedding in 97 and have done it since.... It worked! Also cut back on your salt intake during the week before the formal until the day after (to be on the safe side!)

Do they really work? Can I just drink a ton of water that week instead? LOL

I also agree about cutting back salt intake- I never had one of the water pills- I have heard that they make you go to the bathroom a lot and I think you may have to drink more water when you take them.

Don't worry about it too much- I bet you will look stunning!

I take a diuretic for my high blood pressure. If I miss it for one day, I am all bloated and puffy.

Even if I take it every day, that time of the month, I still get bloated and puffy.

I would try the OTC diuretic or increase your water--the biggest thing that will help you is avoid salty foods though.

I have never tried an OTC diuretic so I am only speaking from experience of my RX meds.
(I always really crave salty stuff when I am PMS'ing and it really holds in the water!)

Drink, drink, drink more water. It really does work. When your body is feeling dehydrated, like during this time, it holds onto the water. Hydrating it will help it let go.

Thank you! I take the Diurex b/c I drink a ton of water during the 2 weeks before my period anyway....It is the best time to drink all that water, even if you aren't a water drinker (ME!), so if it does make you have to goto the bathroom more, I haven't noticed b/c I am already drinking a ton of water, and am in the bathroom anyway! I have noticed though,. your body DOES adjust to the water...if I don't drink water for awhile (just soda or juice) and then drink water I'm in the bathroom every hour....but if I keep drinking the water, I'm back on a 'normal' bathroom schedule.....If that makes any sense...

Like I said, it works for me (and cut back on salt!) You're already a big water drinker, so just keep it up, and if you want to try the water pill, keep up the water intake (or just double it and see if that does it alone!)

Either way, you're going to look stunning!!!
