Ok, I have done weight watchers in the past. But always from home, never attending meeting. So basically, I don't stick with it cause I fall off the track and have no one to keep me motivated or to answer too, which I need. I ask dh to be that person and he is just no use. So I was thinking of actually signing up and going to the meetings. I think I would do great if I had that social setting and getting that pump up every week. The only thing is I have 2 kids 4 and 20 mos. My dh works long hours and is starting school soon. I don't have a babysitter accessible to attend. Does anyone bring children with them? I know I could swing 2 times a month with no kids, but that means there is still 2 weeks I would have them or Can I just weigh in a couple of weeks and get the material or do you have to sit in a meeting to get the material? My 20 mos is not a sit still kinda toddler! Thank you in advance!

You can just weigh in and leave. OR, if it is ok with the leader, I would go with the kids, bring coloring stuff, games or whatever to be quiet and attend. If they act up then leave. People do that in my meeting all the time. Most people don't care. There are always those strange few, but most understand completely.

You get the materials as soon as you register, which is before the meeting. Many people just go for weigh in and leave. I have to say that where I go to meetings, the leaders are great. I have a 14 month old, so I cannot make it to the asame meeting every week. When Addison was little it was easy. I would sit in the back and nurse her or she would be asleep from the drive. Now she is up and running. I try to keep her towards the back and as quiet as possible. I bring a snack for her and some quiet toys, but I can't keep her quiet the entire tiime. Sometimes she does manage to get to the front of the room and try to play with the leader. They are very accepting of her and acutally play with her.
So, yes you can get the materials & leave, or you can try to bring the kids with snacks and quiet toys to a meeting and see how they do. Best of luck to you!!

The WW location I attend has a strick "no kids" rule. However, I know some WW locations have meetings specifically for parents who need to bring their kids. You might want to shop around.

Also, you can start a WW group if you can find enough like-minded Moms. That way you can all decide to make it a kid friendly atmosphere - sort of a combined playgroup / weigh-in.

I find the meetings really important.

Thanks, I attended my first meeting monday evening leaving the kids home with dad. But, I didn't feel like I fit in, no one there like me. Maybe I'll call up there and ask them which meeting do most moms with small kids attend. I really want to go to the meetings cause I have about 20lbs to lose and trying to lose on my own I notice the number rising. But when I went to the meetings I got a few "what do you need to lose weight for's" Which made me a little uncomfortable.

The meeting that I attend "discourages" bringing children. I think that they can definitely be a distraction, so I'm sure that's where that comes from. However, my location has a meeting that mothers with children can attend, and they're encouraged to bring their children. I believe that it's a little shorter than a regular meeting. Check with your location about that type of a meeting. I absolutely believe that attending the meeting is important. Even though the people who attend are all different, they're all there for the same reason -- to lose weight!!! Good luck with all of it. WW is a good program -- I'm down almost 14 pounds and counting . . . !:happy dance:

I find that in my area, the daytime meetings are mostly sahm and older/retired ladies. The early morning and evening groups are mostly working people. Maybe that will help you pick the right group.

I can't always stay for the meetings, but I do like the accountability. Many times I weigh-in and then leave. I have found that by signing up for the automatic pay plan (goes ontot he CC each month automatically) I am more focused (financial accountability) and less likely to come up with excuses not to go. When I tried paying each week I always had an excuse not to go and there was no real loss to me.

Good luck. I would try taking the kids to see how they do. You can always leave if you need to.
