Thanks so much for all the nice comments!! It was a hard won victory to start getting the weight off, especially since I'm an emotional eater in the midst of a lot of turmoil and stress in my life. I was spurred into action by seeing the top photo and getting ready to turn 40. I was absolutely SHOCKED by how fat I was in that picture (WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME?!?!?). I had no idea!
It's simple math, ladies. You have to burn more than you take in to lose. That means you have to eat less, exercise more or both. I was doing just enough moving to maintain the2500-3000 calorie a day diet that I was eating and stayed at 172 for 4 years. I didn't gain but I didn't lose anything either. I joined E-Diets at the end of January and I started tracking what I was eating. I kept my calories to 1200-1300/day and drank about 80 ounces of water/day. I also started doing some of the Exercise on Demand videos on my TV and walking some. I stuck to this pretty religiously (Friday was my weigh in day so Friday night was Margarita time!).
I lost almost 30 lbs. between January and June then maintained all summer long. I lost another 5-6 lbs. before Christmas and was within 8 lbs of my goal weight (130). I have fallen off everything since then and gained 12 back so I now have 20 lbs. to go. I am starting to get back on track and hope to have the 20 off by the end of the year.
It's really hard work and anyone who tells you different is not making permanent changes in their life. I spent years trying the latest weight loss supplements, starving myself, did the soup diet to fit into my wedding dress, etc. I wish I could tell you it's easy but it takes a lot of effort all the time. It did become easier when I saw the weight coming off and could buy new sizes and get rid of the old ones. I also rewarded myself with something each time I broke into a new 10 (i.e. 170, 160, 150, 140). I bought myself something, got a manicure, pedicure, massage, went to a movie, etc.
You can do this, girls but if you want it to really work, be in it for the long haul! I am living proof that it can be done!!!
